Oirase Stream
Flowing from Lake Towada, the most beautiful stream in Tohoku, the Oirase stream, and its surroundings give distinct impressions season by season.

Meiden Statue
The work of the famous sculptor and poet Kotaro Takamura. Visitors often take pictures of this bronze statue, which witnesses seasonal changes of the lake.

Juon Bells (forest appreciation bells)
The bells play a song for 30 seconds every hour from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. except at noon, for three minutes.

The deep blue Lake Towada is in a double caldera with the maximum depth of 334 m. The lake's mystic beauty impresses many visitors. Excursion by boat allows you to see through the unbelievably clear water that cannot be seen from land.
The surrounding mountains covered with deciduous trees, such as beech, maple and oak, offer spectacular sceneries. Apart from autumn leaves in fall, mountain cherry blossoms in May and fresh green in June, which match the autumnal natural beauty here. From observatories around the lake, including Hakkatoge pass, Shimeitei and Kodakudai, or from the well-maintained path along the western coast from Mt. Namariyama to Taki-no-Sawa, you can enjoy different aspects of the lake.
