Onuma Nature Trail A promenade around Onuma Pond situated close to the Hachimantai Aspite Line. While contemplating the pond from different angles, you can see wetland vegetation around it. This tourist spot is most visited in fall when colorful autumn leaves are reflected in the pond.
Goshogake Nature Trail This circular trail close to Goshogake Onsen has several spots to see geothermal activities including the emissions of steam from everywhere on the mountain side. From the trail, visitors can witness various volcanic phenomena occurring at Mud Volcano (allegedly the largest of its kind in Japan), Oname-Motome hot water emissions and Oyunuma volcanic pond. The bubbling of mud volcanoes seems to represent actual geothermal activities close underneath.
